Today is Memorial Day.
I took these pictures a few months ago in the town of Fairfax. The text on the memorial is repeated on a nearby sign along with the names from the Vietnam Memorial which I posted on
March 29.
You can read a transcription at

I feel helpless in the face of mankind's lust for war. Here is a
quote from Pope Francis.
Grant us peace, teach us peace; guide our steps in the way of peace. Open our eyes and our hearts, and give us the courage to say: "Never again war!"; "With war everything is lost". Instill in our hearts the courage to take concrete steps to achieve peace.
...we can't take concrete steps to achieve peace because our feet are stuck in concrete.
ReplyDeleteRight!
DeleteA day to remember....
ReplyDeleteWishing you a blessed Memorial week.
Take care.
Wars are human history
ReplyDeleteWe can repeat those words day and night and we’ll still have war - every day.
ReplyDeleteI start with the Christmas wish for Peace on Earth...and go on and on daily with that as my mantra.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tribute to the day of remembrance and peace.
ReplyDeleteWe also tend to forget the word peace!
I would shoot that first photo in the portrait mode and only show the portal, and not the part to the right.
ReplyDeleteI have a shot like that, but it does not show the monument on the far right.
