A Free Pass and a View

My new pass to our state parks arrived. It is good for one year and I earned it by volunteering 100 hours in our state parks, mostly at Seven Bends. I used it yesterday to visit Shenandoah River State Park.

The weather was freezing cold, and we had already been to a chilly dog park, so I only got out of the car briefly to take pictures at Cullers Overlook. The view there is always worth seeing, with the South Fork of the Shenandoah winding through the valley.

  1. Well worth stepping out into the cold.

  2. Good to use the pass every chance you get!!

  3. ...our State Parks are free for senior citizens on weekdays.

  4. Leafless trees do look amazing

  5. Hello,
Having the state park pass is a good idea. Beautiful views of the river. Take care, have a happy week!

  6. State parks are treasures to be protected at all cost.

  7. That is a well-deserved reward for your volunteer hours and what a great pass in your State which has so many treasured parks to explore! Your first free-pass visit was a lovely one! I look forward to more.

  8. Ah! Recognized that pass straight away. :-)

    1. It’s great to have! I have a national parks pass too.

The View from Squirrel Ridge features thousands of views of the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding area. I post frequently so please visit often.
