When we lived in Bryce Resort, I went to Orkney Springs often. I have over 80 blog posts tagged Orkney Springs. That small town was once a busy health spa, back in the days when people came to drink and bathe in mineral waters. Also, the cool mountain air was refreshing in the summer before buildings were air-conditioned.
I made a brief pilgrimage there the other day. I barely visited the outdoor cathedral when rain started to move in.

This little pond is brown because it is fed by an iron rich spring.
When I first glimpsed the word Orkney I thought you had taken a vacation in Scotland!

ReplyDeleteIt is so interesting to think about those "spa towns" -- we have visited a few in this part of the country too as well as on our RV travels. I like thinking about the way people traveled to "take the waters." That one pond in Orkney Springs looks it could definitely supply a person's needed iron ))

ReplyDeleteI looks wonderful! Might be a silly question but is this a place where anyone from outside can walk around, or do you have to be staying there?
ReplyDeleteThey welcome visitors. Most of the town is now a retreat center owned by the Episcopal diocese.
