Hawksbill Greenway Paintings

Last week we looked at a mural along the Hawksbill Greenway near the commuter lot. Near there is another mural painted on a bridge support.

A plaque tells us this was painted by a Luray High School Art Class. They named it "Hawksbill Critters Root for the Bulldogs." The Bulldogs are the local team and their ball field is nearby, across Route 340.

In the same park are murals on the storm sewer manholes. These are sponsored by the Town of Luray.

  6. Well done to the High School Art Class. They've found a good subject that's meaningful to them and it looks very attractive. A creative way to decorate the mundane manhole covers too. Pretty daisy, rose, rabbit mosaic.

  7. Sorry I'm a tad late to the party. That is one talented art class. I like how it is local, too. Nothing better than painting your own area. You find the most incredible murals in the most unusual places, Linda.

  8. Linda - you have a knack for finding new murals to show us. I always like it when "ugly" concrete gets a make-over! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!
