I went to a crafts sale last month at Hearthstone School near Sperryville. I was surprised to see that a paved play area was covered with huge painted maps!

ReplyDeleteI wonder how long they will last with little shoes all over them...hopefully a generation will walk from Russia to America, and elsewhere! Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThat is so neat! I bet the kids love that.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link, it looks like a wonderful school. The maps are great. We have them on a playground in our school district as well.

ReplyDeleteAren't those maps great, and so colourful.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Similar maps are painted on the playground at our neighborhood's elementary school, and I've also seen them elsewhere. A company called "Peaceful Playgrounds" sells a stencil for the maps -- $200. I agree that it's a fabulous idea and teaching tool.

Very cool
ReplyDeleteA map on the playground, very cool. Just think of the future adults who are avid travelers because they were inspired by that map.
ReplyDeleteI love the maps painted on the play area. What a good way to help kids learn.
