Ducks, Deer, and More.

This pair of ducks are still together. The red-faced one is a muscovy and his partner is probably a muscovy hybrid.

I go up to Skyline Drive pretty regularly, and frequently I see deer. The young one was with the deer in the next picture at the Dickey Ridge Picnic Area.

Below the deer pictures we see a couple of young Canada geese. I call this pair "the twins" because they seemed to do everything in tandem. Their parents were not far away.

A mallard duck is standing next to a barrel-type planter at our community lake. In the distance is a swan decoy that the homeowners' association purchased in an effort to keep large flocks of Canada geese from landing here. It worked for a few weeks, but they seem to be returning.

As you can see, the fountain is working again. It helps to aerate the water and keep the algae in check.

The birdhouse picture has a couple of birds. I cropped this so you could see them. What I heard but did not see is their baby birds cheeping for their lunch.

Flash is posing with a new toy. I missed the Orange You Glad linkup yesterday but am sharing this today. Maria spotlighted one of my earlier pictures there.

Next up is a mourning dove in a tree. I took this through a window and zoomed in.

  1. Flash is adorable and such a good photo poser. Great photos again. I love going up to Skyline Drive. Love to see the deer but haven't been very successful on our last few trips. Maybe now the weather is warmer.

  3. Hello, Flash is so sweet. I love the shot of the dove looking at you. Pretty deer. The geese have to come to the local pond near us too. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day and new week ahead. PS, thanks for the comment on my blog.

  9. Flash is a handsome hound. He knows he is being photographed. I didn't know that swan decoys like that would keep the geese away, for a while anyway. Way too plentiful. There is a park not to far from here that they have taken over and I don't let the kids play there because the geese make such a mess. I miss seeing the ducks. Love Skyline drive, always have, beautiful drive.
