Potomac Yard from Monroe Avenue

Alexandria, Virginia

This must have been in the late 1970's or early 80's, before the railroad yard was closed. When I lived in the Del Ray area of Alexandria, I sometimes walked across the Monroe Avenue Bridge, which is where I took this picture. You can see freight cars here, and high-tension electric lines.

You can find a history of Potomac Yard at Appendix III of city planning documents.
