Sherando Summer

Near Stephens City, VA

Why does this gate at the entrance to Sherando High School look like arrows? Hint: the football team is named "The Warriors."

Next door to the school is a charming park, also named Sherando. The name refers to a Native American tribe, sometimes called Shenandoah or even Senedo. Legend has it that there was an Iroquian chief named Sherando. There is also a national forest recreation area known as Sherando Lake, but it is a couple hours south of this park.

  1. The gazebo is amazing. The park seems to have some long history as well.
