Stop the Car; It's A Heron

It was a "Honey, Stop the Car" moment. We were leaving our neighborhood yesterday when I spotted a heron beside the lake. By the time Frank got the car stopped, the bird heard us and took off.

Fortunately, he didn't go far.

I assumed it was a great blue heron because we have some that hang around here, although this one looks lighter in color. Perhaps it is an immature one?

  1. Hello, great sighting of the herons at the pond. The lighter heron could be a juvenile. Thank you so much for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day and the new week ahead!

  6. Great heron catch. I find that if a photo is well lite on the pond that it tends to wash out my heron photos. But I am always thrilled to see them....Michelle
