The September theme for City Daily Photo is Library so I decided to show the library in Strasburg, Virginia. It's in a house that was given to the town in memory of former residents including Dr. George G. Crawford, who practiced medicine here.
I have posted a number of times about libraries, especially the little one in Bryce Resort where I used to volunteer.
The first library I remember was in the basement of a house in Belle View, Fairfax County. As soon as I could read I started taking out books a half dozen at a time. Soon after that a new library was completed and that's where I would go to find materials for homework assignments. We didn't have an internet then soon we did research at the library or at home using an encyclopedia.

Like most libraries, this one has wi-fi. |
Shenandoah County has six county libraries plus an independent public library in Woodstock. Warren County has one central library which I showed here in May.
I love libraries. And books. Your photo is so cute ( the person on the flour)
ReplyDeleteThat's nice that the library is housed in a house. Nice that it was donated and now being used for something that is vital to a community.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice and interesting posting.

According to my husband, we have too many.
Spread out and make yourself at home!
ReplyDeleteGosh I remember pouring through encyclopedias also Linda :) Can you imagine how young people would feel about that today :) Love the house that the Strasbourg Library is in, so pretty.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely library. I wonder if that fellow is comfortable.
ReplyDeleteI like that the library is in a donated house. Nice pictures. I worked several years in different libraries, so I think of them as special places.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big book worm and use my libraries well.the small ones are always good to check in for local information. I have been sent to a number of good places when I tell them I am looking for good photos
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that the library is in this house.
ReplyDeleteI remember those days of actually reading books and using an encyclopedia!
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely library. I started going to them as soon as I was allowed to ride my bike up to the local one as a child. I used to fill my basket to the brim with books.
