The Pond at Avon Hall

Today we went to "Little Washington" for a Christmas Parade. We passed this town-owned pond and I stopped to take a few photos.

The town is actually named Washington and it was the first locality to be named for George Washington, who actually surveyed it as a young man. Often it's called "Little Washington" to differentiate it from the nation's capital.

Note the steeple rising above the trees and reflected in the pond.

The pond has been rehabilitated in recent years. A sign tells the story, but you can go to the RappFlow site and easily read all about it. I plan to make some notes for myself about the waterside plants.

Avon Hall itself is an old mansion which fell into disrepair. The town now owns it and has had it painted.
