Critters at Blackwater Wildlife Refuge

signWe stayed a night at a Comfort Inn in Cambridge, Maryland. I wanted to visit nearby Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge because I've heard it was worth seeing and I've seen some great bird pictures from there on other blogs.

Unfortunately, rain arrived at the refuge at the same time that we did. We drove the "wildlife drive" in the rain, which let up as we arrived at the visitor center. Then it was time to leave for home and we did not get to see any bald eagles or Delmarva Squirrels. At least we managed to get pictures of ospreys and egrets.

  5. That's too bad it had to rain when you were there. I really like that first shot of the egret. Beautiful bird!

  7. Pretty birds! I've seen fox squirrels in Charleston and other places (south of Delmarva, that is). They are very large and comical.

  9. What nice shots! The last image of the tree silhouettes is great, of course, but I also love the squirrel silhouette on the sign! :-)
Many thanks for participating in the Saturday Silhouettes meme, I look forward to your next contribution.

  10. Those egrets sure can catch the fish. You wonder how they do it so easily
