Two Barns on Back Road

Back Road is a scenic road on the western side of Shenandoah County. There is also a Middle Road, and these are old names going back to times before the Civil War.

The first barn seems to have fallen into disrepair. The second one appears to be still in use and they even added a barn quilt. This is only the second one of these paintings that I've seen in Shenandoah County, but I found some for sale in Woodstock last week so I am hopeful that they will catch on. They are painted on a large panel and usually imitate a quilt square.

  3. The first one may be in disrepair, but it's still a lovely barn. The "Log Cabin" quilt block is wonderful, let's hope the idea catches on. Thanks Linda for linking up this week and I hope that you will be able to show us some more Virginia barns. Tom The Backroads Traveller

  5. Amazing how barns do differ, but I always think there is something good about them.

That 'quilt' block looks great - don't think I've seen that before.

    All the best Jan

  8. Neat barns. I really like the barn quilts. I see them every once in a while around here.

  9. It's kind of sad when you see these old barns that have fallen into disrepair. It makes me wish I had the money to go fix them up
