Do Not Spray...

Railroad Near Waterlick, Virginia

do not spray signJudging by the number of brown branches on the cypress trees, I'd say the sign has not been very effective.

The railroad sprays a defoliant along the tracks to kill weeds. I don't know what chemical they use but it's very effective. I hope it is not damaging to the waterways  because the tracks run near our community lake.

Once I was in a doctor's office and a patient came in who had been sickened by the spray.

  1. That's awful! I hope the railroad finds another way and stops using that poison. I hate to think of more people getting sick, not to mention the long term effects. And those poor trees.

  2. I know weeds are not pretty, but I'm sure there are other ways to maintain it.

  3. They need to stop doing that, but such companies don't think long term or consequences, they think short term profits and how easy can they get away with skirting regulations.

  4. so sad, there must be other ways to kill the weeds. To harm both trees and people is not good. :(
