A Bear Beside the Road

bearFrank's siblings are visiting this weekend so we took them up on Skyline Drive yesterday. The last time we took them there we saw a bear, so we were delighted to see one again. This was not a full-sized black bear; it appeared to be an adolescent.

Unfortunately he scampered away without posing for us, so all we got were pictures of his bear butt! We stayed in the car, of course.

This is in Shenandoah National Park's northern section.

  5. Very cool to see a bear, even if it was just his rear end! Glad you were able to get some photos.

  6. Quite a sight to see a bear, and it's best that they scamper off when they come across humans.

  8. How fun to spot this bear. I've never seen one in the wild but would love the chance. I don't blame you for not getting out of the car though.
