Goldfinch and Starlings

This American Goldfinch was nibbling the last accessible seeds in this feeder. The seeds that are below the little holes cannot be reached, although I once had a visitor that chipped away enough plastic to reach farther down.

I had two of these feeders in the same condition, so today I poured the remaining seed from one into the other one. There’s probably enough natural food in my garden for the birds now, so I will not be purchasing more seed until autumn.

Starlings look dull in the shade, but when the sun illuminates their feathers, we see that they are glowing with color.

This one appeared to be gathering nesting material.
