We had snow on Friday. Counties just south of us got more accumulation, and then they had another snowstorm this week that we didn't get at all.

Cardinal and Sparrow on a Snowy Day
The female cardinal must really like sunflower seeds. She dug through the snow to pull them out.
The other feeder has a camera. It caught her tolerating a sparrow. Sometimes cardinals are aggressive at the feeders, but she was so busy eating that she did not really interrupt her meal.
The sparrow appears to be a white crowned sparrow. I don’t see this kind as frequently as the white throated sparrow, which has yellow parches on the face.

...their cousins visit our feeders daily.
ReplyDeleteGood hungry little critters!
ReplyDeleteHello Linda :)
ReplyDeleteI hope the little sparrow managed to eat some seeds.
Lovely captures of both the Cardinal and the White-crowned Sparrow.
Great captures of the Cardinals and Sparrows.
ReplyDeleteTake care, have a great day!
Love your first cardinal pic. We don't have these birds where I live.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of these lovely birds, Linda! I do love cardinals! Here in Montreal (I live in a 6th floor apartment), there was a male cardinal that would come around and serenade me....I could always tell it was him by his song, even if I couldn't see him, as he stayed well hidden in a tree.
ReplyDeleteGosh! We even had snow here in Tidewater. Strange, but true. :-)
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely birds and beautiful photographs.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
