White Crowned Sparrow

The camera on the Birdfy feeder stopped working on March 31 and I’ve been trying to get it operational again. I didn’t want to put my charging block out there on a rainy day, so I hooked up the solar panel but that didn’t do the trick. I pushed the Reset button and the Start button and that didn’t work either. I’ll continue to try to charge it up after this next rainy spell ends.

I can’t complain too much about the rain because it’s a relief from the drought.

On the final day of March, one of the birds that came to that feeder was this sparrow. It appears to be a white-crowned sparrow, which I don’t see very often.

The next picture shows a stuffed owl in a nature center. I don’t think it’s the kind that we heard the other night, but I want to tell you about that.

My dog Charlie was alarmed by the calls of an owl that was probably in a tree behind our house. “Hoo hoo! Hoo hoo hoo!” He sat up, full alert. Another owl answered in the distance. Charlie looked confused and upset. He howled. “Wa-ooo!” This went on for about five minutes, with owls calling and Charlie protesting. I hope the owls found each other and don’t do this every night.

  1. Charlie was startled and confused by a nighttime owl exchange, responding with howls of his own as the calls echoed through the night.

  2. Great shot of the White-crowned Sparrow. I do not see them here. It is funny Charlie and the Owls were talking to each other. Take care, have a happy day!

  5. Sweet looking bird! Hope your camera can charge ok again soon. I’m living with a dog on my visit now, who likes to bark when sirens go off in the distance. Fortunately that doesn’t happen often.

  6. I love hearing owls at night, but fortunately our dog sleeps right through it!
