As soon as I use up the bag of birdseed, I need to stop feeding them for the summer. If I still lived in a rural area, the bears would have already forced me to stop. I've had more than one birdfeeder destroyed by a bear in early April.

ReplyDeleteI am debating whether to stop feeding them for the summer. Usually I feed them all year. I don't have to worry about bears but raccoons can wreak their own form of havoc.

ReplyDeleteLinda - lovely photos! We don't get either one of these species in Montana, and I do miss them! I feed the birds year-round; we are lucky to have a way of stringing our bird feeders so that the bears cannot reach them, even if they climb the near-by trees.
ReplyDeleteYikes, I guess bears at the bird-feeder would definitely be one downside to living in such a beautiful spot. But as long as taking them down on time keeps them from my backporch I'd happily put up with it! Beautiful birds.
