Los Toltecos

My daughter told me about the Mexican restaurant in Strasburg a year ago, and showed me pictures of the murals. I made a mental note to go there, but then it closed. Later it opened with a new name and menu. it wasn't until I ran out of pictures for Monday Murals that I remembered to check it out.

The proprietor was happy to let me take some pictures. He was proud of the new decorative tables. The fancy chairs were there before.

The exterior of this restaurant is very plain, so you would never guess that the inside is full of art.

I told my host that the sacrifice scene would ruin my appetite. I’ve heard that the Aztecs did such things but it’s pretty disturbing.

I’d rather look at birds and swans.

  3. Those photos are great! It is unusual to have so much art work in a restaurant. I agree about the lurid photo of the human sacrifice.

  6. There are a couple of Mexican restaurants in my town that have chairs that are very similar. However, I have never seen tables like that, although the tables at these two restaurants in my town have similar paintings on their tables. NOTHING like the sacrifice or even the swans, though.

  8. That is amazing. I'm always so in awe of the talented people that paint murals and art like this. Thanks for sharing!

  9. Yep, that really is a disturbing painting. Better just pass the chips and salsa. :-)

  10. Wow -- I wonder if you could ask for a table where your view was the birds and the beauty. (As I just said above I DO believe in remembering the bad history along with the good, but perhaps not while I'm eating .)
