Perhaps you have seen it from I-66 near Front Royal: A grand church or cathedral rising up behind the trees. One day when we were in that area near the animal shelter, I drove over to take a look.
It may seem an anachronism in this modern age, especially in a rural area where many church populations are shrinking, but it will attract students to this small college. I’d like to tour it someday to see the stained glass windows.
The Shenandoah River is nearby and I cannot resist showing another picture of the river.
Love the buildings. The reflection in the lake works out nicely too.

The river looks tranquil, beautiful and eternal. It will still flow when the church has long since been reduced to rubble.

We have one that looks very similar on the Blue Ridge Parkway on the way to Roanoke from Floyd. I have been told Monks live there.

ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! It looks like it could have been brought over brick by brick from England, like they did with the London Bridge in Lake Havasu, Nevada. I hope you get to see those stained glass windows.
