Sweet Land of Liberty

July 4 is Independence Day here in the States. We celebrate our country even as we fear its weaknesses and excesses.

I haven’t given up hope. This country has seen awful problems before.

I believe in striving to make things better in the ways that you can, even small ways. I think that praying for things to be better can help insofar as it clarifies your intentions and pushes you to do better, to be more forgiving, and to be kind.

Peace!

  9. Such a hard time we are having. I am with you in believing that Americans can and will do better -- by voting and by keeping our political system more honest. We can overcome the damage from the republican-controlled Supreme Court and its destructive intentions.

  11. I believe that while the damage is substantial and the work will be long, as Dr. King said, the arc of history bends towards justice.
