Frye Fort (or Fry's Fort or Frey's Fort)

Circa 1750.
Along Cedar Creek.

  1. I wonder what "protective refuge" involved?

    1. There were still Indian attacks at that time. I read that the house was surrounded by a stockade and the spring was within it. There was at least one incident in which people came from miles around to escape an attack.

  2. Beautiful photos!
    Have a blessed day!

  3. ...what a gorgeous building that has stood the test of time. It is beautiful.

  4. Wow quite lovely and large!

  5. Beautiful house. A house with many stories to tell.

  6. It's always great for me to see and experience some fantasy memories of the pioneer settlers of any part of the US...and part of that imaginary experience is the difficulties of the new people against those who had been there for generations before.
