Today's post features pictures from my Moultrie trail cam that is strapped to a tree by the lake. I cropped all these pictures because the camera does not compose; it just clicks when it senses movement.
I think these must be starlings. They travel in large flocks and they look black unless the sun is shining on their feathers to bring out the colors.
The above picture has so much going on, it's hard to read. I decided to crop in on two sections to bring them out.
Also I duplicated the layers in Photoshop and used different blending methods to (1) color burn and (2) color dodge.
Photoshop also lets you just lighten the dark areas, but I try to use that minimally because it steals the contrast.
The final shot was taken at daybreak so it is dark. There are two deer. I hope you can see them.

That 2nd deer (behind the bush) was nearly invisible until you told us there were TWO! Love the flock of starlings series.

I see the deer in the last picture and it seems just as if id stumbled on them on a real life early morning hike...the way you don’t see them at all and then all of a sudden you do! A great picture. I admire your talent with photoshop, bringing out the best.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos. How good to have a web cam so that you can observe the wild life and capture the shy creatures such as the deer. I watch the few birds that come our way and settle in the trees. Sometimes there are flocks of them darting about when the weather is dry and sometimes just a few during rainy days.
