The Good: I've been avoiding crowded stores so the other day I went to a new farm market on Middle Road. I bought a few things including ground beef, new potatoes, and some ham salad for Frank.
The Random: The building is new but West Oaks Farm has been around for over two centuries. They have decorated the space with country craft items and even an old car.
The Fun: I did go into Martin's Supermarket last week to pick up some items that we were unable to get previously. I was amused to see they were selling plush versions of Marty the Robot.
Marty patrols the store looking for spills to report. At least, that's what the supermarket says he's doing. Many adults find him creepy, but children enjoy seeing him and blocking him to make him turn. I'm sure the toy robot will be popular with kids.
By the way, I am using a new tag called
Covid-ality. This will bring up posts for this strange new reality we are living under, with our opportunities restricted and social distancing a sad necessity. I hope this will be a brief period in history, but I think fear some of the changes will be needed for a long time.
Good sense avoiding crowded places. Thanks for shating your pics

Here in Michigan, I think we are even more locked down than you are. That robot looks like a lot of fun. I wonder if it's at all truly useful. I just read through a lot of your recent posts and had one other comment: I use the word "church key" and no one seems to know what it means. So glad to see you have it in your vocabulary.

You see some interesting sights in both the supermarket and the farm shop. I would love to go to one of our regular farm shops right now if we could. The new potatoes are so special at this time of the year.

...I guess that West Oak is an important business, minus the events!
ReplyDeleteHello, the market place looks nice. I try to avoid the crowds too. I have never seen a robot walking around the stores, that is cool. Take care! Enjoy your day, wishing you a great new week ahead.
ReplyDeleteThe farm shop is very nicely decorated.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a similar robot patrolling the shops, must be fun for the kids indeed.
Thanks for participating Lois.
I don't know how we'll ever be able to forget it. Finding a little, uncrowded farm stand is a wonderful thing. It's scary to go into the grocery store, even if you're waiting in the parking lot at 5:45 am for Senior Hour to start. I'm not so sure about that robot, I think the pizza robots we have roaming around campus are cuter and less creepy, lol.
ReplyDeleteI will consider adding Covid-ality to my vocab. Robot is the first of its kind I've seen. Nice to see photos of that nicely decorated store. I have friends doing shopping for me. I feel badly, giving them details of what I want to buy, but I try to only ask for 4 things at a time. Chocolate chips and flour may not be available, so I just hope there's yogurt.
ReplyDeleteStaying away from crowds is a great idea especially right now.

I like shopping at farm stands, especially when they have organic food. That’s a cool collage, Linda. Cock-a-doodle-doo! :-)

Great photos of your outing--thanks!
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely best to stay away from crowds at the moment!

Linda - how I wish I could visit a farm market! This is the time of year that most of the small cities around us have markets on different days of the week - you could probably find one every day of the week except Sunday. How sad it will be that these will not take place now … That robot is fascinating - are there that many spills that it is necessary? Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday, and have a good week!
ReplyDeleteI imagine that robot in the store is very attractive to the kids. The farmers market looks like a great place to visit.
ReplyDeleteI like the farm shop.
ReplyDeleteI reckon I could just sit back and relax with Mr Robot in the house - does he cook dinner as well?! Have a lovely weekend.
