Church of the Rock is on Virginia Avenue in Front Royal, Virginia. I don't know the age of this brick building but it does not look very old.
Brick is a popular building material in Virginia, for clay is plentiful. Brick is believed to have made in the state as early as 1612.
Let's leave Front Royal and drive southwest for 11 miles to the small town of Bentonville. Here we'll follow Rocky Hollow Road toward the South Fork of the Shenandoah.

ReplyDeleteI love traveling in the Appalachians and seeing the folds as the mountains go by, and the river valleys. Our topography is really interesting, and you just can't experience it from maps.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. I've been out west a million times but I've never traveled in the Appalachians. Maybe this fall?
