Historic Rosemont Manor in Berryville was recently open to the public for holiday tours. It is now a Bed and Breakfast and is beautifully appointed. It was built by the first sheriff of Clarke County in 1811. Part of the Battle of Berryville took place on the grounds in 1864. Senator Harry Flood Byrd lived here from 1928 to 1966.
Byrd became very influential and important figures him visited him here, such as Presidents Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Byrd, Nixon, and Johnson; aviator Charles Lindbergh; physicist Albert Einstein; and Admiral Chester Nimitz.
