Randoms with a Touch of Green

The Good: I'm a fan of art, and the thing that makes this painting so impressive is that it takes up an entire wall of a family room. I saw it in a private home.

The Random: When I read that this barn in Stephens City was slated for demolition, I decided I should get a photo of it. I can see why they decided it couldn't be saved.

I hope someone can salvage some of the wood. It has "character."

Note: I see in the newsletter for Newtown History Center that this was a carriage barn.

The Fun: A political demonstration may not sound like fun, but these folks appeared to be having a great time. This was on a Wednesday afternoon in Front Royal, Virginia.

I made up a collage and for fairness I included a picture of the counter-demonstration as the center photo in the bottom row. It consisted of two men (sitting on a bench) holding a sign.

  3. We have many barns in our area in the same condition. I also hope the wood can be saved!

  4. Three cheers for the protestors .... may their cause triumph before it is too late for all of us.

Sweet old barn...I'm old enough to remember when reclaimed barn wood was all the rage .... we wanted to do a wall in our family room with it, but never got around to that project.

  5. With recent goings on in DC, I wonder how long those two guys and their sign will hang on! I like that old barn.
