Masked Mare and Her Colt

Near Rectortown, Virginia

I believe what mom is wearing is called a fly mask. It is light enough that she can see through it while offering protection against insects.

    That foul is adorable! I didn't know that about the mask, that horses could see through them while it protected them from the flies. I always thought it was because of the wind. Yep, I am a city girl, what can I say? lol

    I've never seen a fly mask before. I wonder if she wears it 24/7 of does someone take it off at night? The foal, with it's white socks, is just too cute.
