Where Do I Belong?

linda walcroftThe March theme for City Daily Photo is "Where Do You Belong." I struggled with this because I have never felt wedded to a place, but my home has always been in Virginia. I grew up near Alexandria and now I live in the Shenandoah Valley. I love both places. I also love the mountains that surround the valley.

My mother loved these mountains too! When I was growing up, my parents brought us up to Skyline Drive on weekend drives. We'd picnic and take a hike.

The rest of my illustrations for this theme are valley scenes as viewed from the Blue Ridge Mountains in winter. The snow has melted now but we made it up to Skyline Drive last month while it was still on the ground. Only the central section was open so we drove there via Luray.

The valley is known for it's lovely farmland so I was able to find some vistas for The Barn Collective. I'm also linking to Through My Lens and Our World Tuesday.

  1. Thanks Linda for sharing these frosted shots of your neck of the woods. Snow doesn't seem to last very long this winter. I look forward to seeing more from your beautiful countryside.

  2. Those are lovely views. My sister lived in Alexandria at one time and my wife and I visited her. Very nice place. I remember the Christmas Shop :)

  3. That's a wonderful view Linda and by the look of that last shot, a lot of deep snow! I've always loved the name of the place you belong, the 'Shenandoah Valley' a magical name!
