Carolers in Color

It's time for holiday events and they are in full swing here in the Shenandoah Valley. Some are listed on Shenandoah Valley Web, some on ShenandoahValley.com, and others in local papers.

I took these pictures last year in Winchester, VA. Note the traditional Christmas colors of red and white. Some believe these became associated with Christmas because decorative evergreens such as holly have red berries in the winter. In any case, the colors contrast and look bright together, quite appropriate for a celebration.

  4. Very 19th century in looks. I'm on the lookout for carolers like this here.

  5. What festive photos! They look like they ought to be on the cover of a Christmas magazine.
