On the Market: The Strasburg Theater

The theater in Strasburg, Virginia is for sale. It was most recently used as a live music venue, but has served as a movie theater in the past.

It needs some improvements such as new flooring. Theaters have to complete with home entertainment and people's current fascination with the internet so some of them are no longer profitable.  The Wayside Theater in nearby Middletown closed recently — a loss to all of us who enjoyed the stage shows that were produced there.

  1. Great post, thank you for sharing, Linda. While I understand that many people today don't have a lot of money to go to a theater (myself included), I find it sad to see pieces of nostalgia disappearing.

  3. It's a crying shame to see things that used to mean so much, wither up and disappear.

  6. It's a shame so many places like this are becoming a thing of the past. I love going to the movies or to live music shows in theaters like this. It looks lovely inside.

  7. I spent endless hours working to make that theater the place to go and enjoy a nice show. I wanted to make it the place that hosted a variety of events. Also a place for the kids to practice their theater and creativity. I welcomed the entire community to participate and help me accomplish that goal. I wish things didn't end up with the theater closing. I have some great memories and I am hoping to see the doors open again so I can re-visit as a customer. Thank you for that blog! Irene
