Silver Lake, Cloudy Sky

We've stopped at Silver Lake before. We've admired the view, watched the swans, visited the shop in the old mill, and read the Civil War Trails sign. It's the sort of place that's worth seeing again because the water looks different when the sky changes, and the landscape changes with the seasons.

The mill that stands today was built after the Civil War, replacing the Daniel Bowman mill which was destroyed during "The Burning" in the Shenandoah Valley in 1864. The nearby town of Dayton was almost burned also as a retaliation for the shooting death of a lieutenant, but the order was rescinded at the last minute.
