Early Signs of Autumn

Colors are starting to change early this year. Perhaps the trees are tired of being stressed by the heat and dryness and just need a rest!

At first I noticed a few dogwoods changing color, but now other trees are bursting into reds and yellows. We are in western Shenandoah County in the foothills of Great North Mountain. I haven't noticed this happening in the valley yet or even in the Blue Ridge Mountains where we drove yesterday.
