San Pedro Harbor

We went to San Pedro to take the Catalina Express. The docks are busy and noisy, with these gigantic cranes for loading and unloading ships. The crates are the size of tractor-trailers and are actually lowered and placed upon a trailer carriage so that a tractor can haul them away. The shipments I saw were from a Chinese company.

My daughter Marie wrote about traveling on a big container ship in 2001.
