The lion sleeps tonight

This is one of the lions that Frank decided to replace. It turned out that it was not only cemented on but it also had a piece of rebar holding it to the gatepost, so he was not able to remove it without breaking it. Oh well... we have another pair of lions and they are better-looking anyway.

Oh, that eagle on the wall was also there when we bought the house. The flag on his shield was red, green, white and blue; and one of my first decorating jobs was to cover the green with red paint. (Red, green, and white are the Italian flag colors. I didn't find them any more appropriate than lions in the Allegheny foothills.)
