Mallards in Winter

Ducks in Rockingham County, Virginia

Mallard ducks stay around during the winter in Virginia. The male's bright green head adds color to our February pictures, and they are not too shy to photograph.

Wikipedia says they are dabbling ducks and their Latin name is Anas platyrhynchos.
