Perhaps you've seen this mountain with an "eye" while driving down I-81 between New Market and Mount Jackson. It's actually a rock feature on Short Mountain, which is part of the Massanutten Range. The following information is from Wikipedia:
Short Mountain lies along the northwestern margin of Massanutten Mountain in Shenandoah County, Virginia.
