Yesterday evening the conditions must have been ideal for contrails, which I sometimes call jet trails.
The term contrail is a shortened version of condensation trail. NASA says that
Contrails only form at very high altitudes (usually above 8 km) where the air is extremely cold (less than -40 degrees C).
