Kernstown Random-osity

The Good: There was a special event at Kernstown Battlefield Park in Winchester this weekend. It was a nice day and many folks were enjoying the living history. In the museum I found this mural depicting an 1862 illustration of the First Battle of Kernstown.
The Random: This fine Amish-built barn stands on the property.

The Fun: Dressing up in costumes is fun, and these re-enactors were having a good time.

  1. Your post reminds me how different our relationship to historical events can be. Being a Westerner the Civil War is a less vivid event compared to folks in the East who can walk the battlefields near their towns. Sobering, isn't it.

Sorry about the Linky mess up. It's up now if you want to link up. Thanks for linking up to Monday Mural.

  4. Linda, this barn is like many that I've seen in Eastern Pa and further south, unlike barns in this area. Thanks for sharing, please stop back again.

  8. The Amish certainly know how to build barns. I admire their teamwork!
The history of the American Civil War is talked about a lot just now.
The re-enactment is a good way for young people to learn about it too.
