These sparrows perched on our "patio peach." Since many of my readers are fellow photobloggers, I feel comfortable confessing that I bought this little tree as a prop for my photos. I had my husband plant it near the feeders so that birds could perch on it.
By now you may have guessed why I bought this colorful feeder.
Ms. Cardinal is not red like the male of the species but she has her own style and beauty.
We didn't hike very far but I enjoyed getting outdoors.
Such a handsome bird! He's holding his wings like a member of our blackbird/robin family. I wonder if he's a relation. His perch is lovely.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Confessions of a photoblogger... perfect planting I'd say :) Happy New Year Linda.

Hello, planting the fake tree is a great idea. It will look natural for the bird photos. Pretty dogs and birds. Thank you so much for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy day and new week ahead!
ReplyDeleteOh, this one is real. It's bred to be small so I don't expect it will block our view.
Delete...I like Ms. Cardinal.
ReplyDeleteThe beautiful stained glass feeder is awesome...I want one!! And the fact you asked your husband to plant the bush/tree nearby is a great idea. And the birds are making good use of both...making your photos outstanding!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you shared this post with us birders at I'd Rather B Birdin' this weekend...thanks!!!
I like the props you use in your photos. Tennessee also had 'first day events at their parks. I think that is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteGood idea with the peach, Linda. I miss the juncos, they are chilling in West Virginia without me. But the sparrows in D.C. are happy about the current seed location!

Cute critters, Linda- especially that last doggie!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! That first one is well-suited for black and white.
ReplyDeleteThe birds love that new little tree. What a great idea and you'll get plenty of photos from it. The dogs are always interesting to see too.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good idea to plant the little tree near the feeder. Beautiful photos of the birds!
ReplyDeletewonderful images today. I especially love the composition in the first three images. Beautiful :)
ReplyDeletePerfect way to celebrate and welcome the New Year Linda. Love the idea of the little tree near the feeder. (I do miss being able to feed birds -- pretty much the only thing I miss about having a 'big house" (as our then 3 year old granddaughter called the home we sold when we started RV traveling).
ReplyDeleteOh, these are a great set of photographs, I loved every one.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
