Plantain is a weed that pops up all over our yard, even in our gravel driveway. I was surprised to see some for sale at a local herb festival. Also called plantago, it has healing properties and a poultice made from the leaves is soothing for insect stings.

I've heard the term plantain used before, but had no idea what it was.
ReplyDeletei remember that growing in wisconsin.
ReplyDeleteA plant is a weed if it's growing where you don't want it to grow. Otherwise it's a wildflower. Kind of like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Have a great weekend. Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I've only heard of plantains as in bananas (that need to be cooked before eating)
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I always think of plantain in the banana sense! Didn't know there was another kind.
