Thunderbird at Valley Overlook
When I was in Front Royal on Saturday, I drove into Shenandoah National Park because it is so close. I only drove about 15 miles south and then came back. Most of the views were quite hazy. Although I saw a deer and a wild turkey, they both disappeared into the woods in a matter of seconds. Consequently, I didn’t take any pictures until I pulled into the last overlook and spotted an old T-bird convertible.
I didn’t want to stare at the people, but I assume that they were taking pictures after a wedding. Behind the men on the right is a woman in a white gown, probably the bride. There was another antique car off to their right, but it was not elegant like the Thunderbird.

I would probably have gone in and asked if they needed another photographer! Wedding season starting here as well. I often visit Stockholm City Hall on Saturdays. Always a good spot for wedding photos.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful view, great click
ReplyDeleteI bet that many admired the car more than the bride!
ReplyDeleteAlways fun to see well-cared-for antiques! Cars I mean!
ReplyDelete...a Thunderbird is a delight.
ReplyDeleteI love happening upon an unexpected sight. Makes you wonder about the people and their lives.
ReplyDeleteThat was fun! We have come across wedding photographs (including once most of the ceremony as well) on a public beach and in a city square and under a heritage tree in a local park but none with as scenic a background as your discovery.
ReplyDeleteThat Thunderbird is a total dream. It’s such a vibe to stumble upon a scene like that an old-school convertible on Skyline Drive feels like it’s straight out of a movie. It’s a bummer the views were a bit hazy and the deer were shy, but honestly, catching a glimpse of a wedding shoot with that car is such a cool "only in the mountains" moment. It definitely makes up for the lack of wildlife photos.
ReplyDeleteThe Thunderbird is spectacular, and this is just the perfect photo, not intruding on their day and yet we see the beauty of it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Marie and Happy Earth Day to you all. The thunderbird is a beautiful car and always nice to see a wedding party. I saw one at the gardens again the other day.
