Different Birds, Same Perch

This could almost be one of those little games where you find the differences between the two pictures.

These photos are from February. Both birds are perched on the same shepherd’s hook, And both are gray with a little black, and a white front.

The first bird is a tufted titmouse. The second one is a northern mockingbird.

  1. I am so glad you identified these birds! They are both lovely! The tufted titmouse kind of reminds me of a cardinal with the tuft on its head. Beautiful photos, thank you so much for sharing.

  2. Those subtle differences between the two gray and white birds perched side by side make for a perfect “spot the difference” moments

  3. Great shots. These are both species that have increased their range in recent years and have become more common here. Just yesterday a Northern Mockingbird flew across the road in front of the car.

  4. And then there's the size difference too...which doesn't show unless you have them standing side by side!

    All the best Jan
