This is another series of screenshots from my birdfeeder camera. It has a wide-angle lens which distorts shapes, sometimes with amusing effects.
Here a tufted titmouse lands on the edge of the seed tray, interrupting the meal of a northern cardinal. The male cardinal can look quite majestic, but this lens makes him look like a big head on a round neck.
Tufty reconsidered his position and moved to the back perch.
Personal Note #1: It was cold today, well below freezing. My feeder camera stopped working, so I cleared a path through the snow to reach it. I tried to adjust the solar panel and cracked a piece of plastic. At that point, I decided it was too cold to troubleshoot, so I added birdseed to the feeder and went back in the house to get warm.
Personal Note #2: My younger daughter Marie, is back in Burbank. Wildfires are causing catastrophic damage in Southern California, but her town is safe at this time. If you have seen images of the fires, I know you are concerned for all the people and animals in that area. If you happen to live there, please be ready to evacuate if the time comes. Be safe!
Hello,
ReplyDeleteLove the bird photos, the feeder cam takes great photos. I hope your daughter stays safe, prayers to all those in the area and the fire/rescue workers. Take care, have a great day!
I like that wide angle view! Accentuates the tufts. Wonder if that would work as well for me. :-)
ReplyDelete...so this is what a sunny day looks like!
ReplyDeleteSo sad to hear about the fires in CA. A crisis of huge proportions. Your feeder camera captures like my iphone...makes close things look huge.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of your birds. As for the fires, absolutely horrifying. I watched a young reporter making her way around through scenes that looked like war zones. Everyone in the comments kept telling her to get out of there. This was late last night. One person was telling people to please leave their keys in their abandoned cars so that they could be moved by volunteer residents for the fire crews to get through. Keeping Marie in my thoughts. Wishing her continued safety.
ReplyDeleteI love your birdcam photos! We're in Orange County (a little south of the LA fires). We actually got emergency evacuation notices today on our phones. Be READY to evacuate at any moment. Very disturbing, but then 15 minutes later, it turned out to be an error. Some knucklehead accidentally sent out emergency notices to ALL of LA County and adjacent areas. A terrible mistake, given how stressed out we all are already!
ReplyDeleteYour bird cam shots are quite wonderful. A little distortion doesn’t spoil the experience.
