As Florida dealt with yet another hurricane today (named Milton), we got notice of a geomagnetic storm and the likelihood that we might be able to see northern lights here in Virginia. Well, quite a few people were able to see them. I heard that a stream of traffic headed up Skyline Drive to view them from the overlooks. Since I am responsible for an anxious dog as well as being old and jaded, I did not bother, even though I saw some great pictures that people took last night of this phenomenon. They admitted, however, that they did not see as much with the naked eye as was picked up by the camera.
So I don't have any pictures of the aurora for you today. All I have is a twilight sky from a few weeks ago.
Poor doggie. Good thing you understand him so well. Seeing the aurora borealis in my city is also a rare event and I never rush out to try and capture it when they are expected. I haven't seen one since I was a child. I grew up in the north and they were a regular event.
ReplyDeletePretty sky capture! Love your cute Charlie, I am glad you were able to rescue him. Hubby and I were able to see the Aurora last night, with our eyes it was such a pretty pink color. Take care, have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteGreat sky.
ReplyDeleteI have never had a dog, and when I hear of one running around the living room drooling, that’s a good thing!
ReplyDelete...I missed the Northern Lights.
ReplyDeleteI had given up on previous auroras (I live in New York State in an area which has a lot of cloud cover) because of clouds but I got a text from a co worker about 10pm last night alerting me and I finally saw it. The upper sky had turned purple but clouds were already rolling in. I was fortunate to get the pictures I did which were a lot more amazing than what I could see with my eyes. You have been so patient with Charlie and are finally seeing results. It takes a special person to rescue parent a dog and Charlie finally has had a chance for a good life. Kudos to you both! ReplyDeleteI'm glad Charlie has such a caring owner! The aurora was even visible in the S CA desert last night, but (sigh) I wasn't out there to capture it.
ReplyDeleteEveryone knows a dog's happiness is paramount to seeing auroras, don't they? I heard people could see them with their cameras around here last night, but there are way to many trees where I'm staying to see them, and again it would require driving somewhere with a couple of elder ladies...not our choice either.
ReplyDeleteThat sky looks good and such a sweet photograph of Charlie.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
