Yesterday we went to a studio tour in the Purcellville area. We only had time to visit three sites because we went to a plant sale at Middletown first. These pictures are from the village of Lincoln.
The Goose Creek Friends Meeting House caught my eye so I pulled into the parking lot to take a picture. I think I may have stopped there on a field trip many years ago.
A plaque provides a little history of the building:
“Goose Creek Friends meeting house was built from 1817 to 1819. Originally a two story building, it was reconstructed from 1948 to 1949 after a severe wind storm in 1943.”
That is a nice looking little church. The cat could be protecting its owner's painting and fell asleep on its job. Lol!
ReplyDeleteThat's one naughty cat there Linda!

...right about now we need more Quakers.
ReplyDeleteI guess we know which one the cat preferred!
ReplyDeleteI like the colorful art...and smile at the cat who knows good art when he sees it! Good sturdy meeting house, which hopefully will stand a long time after having storm problems in the past!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cheeky cat :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
That's quite a comfy cat.
ReplyDeleteThe cat must be an avid art lover.
ReplyDeleteThe cat evidently wants to keep that one -- so it's not for sale!! .... I love how you can find historical structures just about every time you go out! You live in such a wonderful spot for that as well as for nature.
