"In 1784, Washington proposed the Northwestern Turnpike as an all-Virginia route to the Ohio. Authorized in 1827 and started in 1831, it remains a monument to the skill of its engineers, Charles Shaw and Colonel Claudius Crozet."
(In George Washington's time, West Virginia was still part of Virginia.)
Great.

...that is a great way to dress up a carwash.
ReplyDeleteGreat mural! We drove near there recently heading towards Pennsylvania, but I guess I was looking the wrong direction-- or maybe I was driving. So many murals, so little time!
ReplyDeletebest... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
I was a bit confused, Linda. Usually you are the last person to share your mural. This is a real gem. We have a lot of these front line workers to be thankful for.
ReplyDeleteNice to learn a bit of history of US 50, too.
Yes, I had a church to show for Sunday and the buildings were near each other, so I combined the pictures into one post.
DeleteWonderful mural which reminds everyone of who kept us going for the last 2 years. The little church that's a community center is a great way to save a building.
ReplyDeleteI love the explosion of murals we are seeing everywhere in the country.
ReplyDeleteLove that car wash. It's worth going just to see the mural.
ReplyDeleteI always have fun looking through your area through your photos. The mural is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love the murals, they are great Linda.
ReplyDeleteThe front line workers kept us all going. Love the churches.
