Cartoon Animals in Fairfax

This mural is on the section of Lee Highway where Routes 29 and 50 run along together. The building  currently appears to be empty. The picture above looks curved while it reality the building is not. The distortion is a product of taking a panorama on my phone and then copying it to post here.
Monday Murals / Mosaic Monday / Blue Monday

I was excited to come across this because it is delightful. I don't know how to adequately present it because it is very long.

The artist is MADSTEEZ, or Mark Paul Deren. In addition to the cute animals, the mural depicts Fairfax landmarks.

I read that the artist has a visual condition in one eye where he sees only abstractions and lines of colors, most notably reds, purples, and oranges, His other eye sees realistically so he combines the two styles in his art.

  3. I think the artist's visual condition has given him an edge. His colours are beautiful and he puts much details in his art. I like the centre piece with the tractor and the farm house in the back ground. This is art but I like graffiti, not the ones with rude words though.

  4. Parodies of famous art works are a favorite of mine, and I usually concentrate on Mona Lisa parodies, but I also love American Gothic parodies like this one. I especially like the expansion of other activities of the life of the "farmer."

  8. I was truly amazed at that building with all the murals. They artist certainly used his disability to his advantage. I also love the American Gothic dogs. Very cleverly painted.

  9. Quite unusual. I love the American Gothic take. A comic book I picked up a couple of weeks back had their own version of that.

  10. These are great! I like the American Gothic dogs! We have a lot of street art in some inner city suburbs - but they are off limits to me at present because of travel restrictions!

PS: sorry about the long time between comments, but being in lock down is not good for me!
