Monday Mural: A new mural has joined the other art on Front Royal's Main Street.
It says "Front Royal, Virginia, Est. 1788."
You may have driven through Front Royal without seeing Main Street. Traffic was routed around the historic downtown when this was a major route for trucks and motorists before I-66 was opened. Now Main Street is pretty quiet most of the time, but it has old-fashioned charm.
Today was rainy and cloudy but it let up for a while so I walked along Main Street and took some pictures before the rain returned.

It has been too long since I went to Front Royal. I enjoyed your photos. They make me want to plan a trip.
ReplyDeleteLinda - welcome back! That is a creative use of the space with the first mural - so many you see are only horizontal! I love the unique arrangement of your collage this week! Thanks for linking up to Mosaic Monday!

ReplyDeleteLove these kind of towns ...reminds me of the small towns like where I grew up. Pretty little Johnny JumpUps and greenery in your secon.
ReplyDeleteThat is nicely done. Too bad that Main St isn't busier!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place and photos, and I love that butterfly flower bed. Thank you for the link. I found the history of the Mellons very interesting too.
ReplyDeleteOh well, I see I put this on the wrong post. Sorry about that :)
ReplyDeleteI've only passed by while driving cross-country. Maybe some day I'll stop at this MainStreet.
